As a full-time solo female traveller, having access to mobile data is an essential part of staying safe while I’m out adventuring, and more often than not it’s a MobiMatter eSIM that’s keeping me connected.

MobiMatter is an eSIM marketplace that sells data-only and data + calls plans from local telcos all around the world, as well as reselling some eSIM providers’ own plans for cheaper than if you went direct.

Mobimatter website interface displaying popular eSIM destinations with multiple country flags including USA, UK, Japan and Spain, alongside a promotional banner for their travel connectivity services

I discovered them in while travelling Europe by train for three months in 2023 and I’ve since bought more than 50 of their eSIMs/top-ups in five continents, sooo you could say I am somewhat of a loyal customer!

What I love about MobiMatter:

  • Their app and website are SO easy to use for both searching eSIMs and then managing your plan
  • They let you type in multiple countries if you’re doing a bigger trip, so you can quickly see what regional or global eSIMs might cover you rather than having to click into and scroll through a country list
  • Once you’ve searched your destination/s, you can sort the results by ‘Price per GB’ which lets you compare options based on per GB value, the easiest way to make sure you’re getting the best deal
  • Every eSIM states the networks they use in each country, fair use policies and hotspotting limits are transparent, and anything that might catch travellers out (like an unusual activation policy or a notable country exclusion) is clearly displayed on the product page
  • You get 10% cashback with every eSIM!

They aren’t alwayyyys the cheapest eSIM option for every destination, but of the countries I’ve been to I reckon they’re the best value (per GB) probably 80% of the time, and another 15% of the time they’re still up there in spot #2 or #3.

You can see how MobiMatter compares to other providers in my ultra-detailed eSIM guides:

  • Best Europe eSIMs (they took the top spot for Best for most travellers + Best for long trips)
  • Best Italy eSIMs (Best for most travellers + Best for stopovers or low data + Best for long trips)
  • Best Japan eSIMs (Best for most travellers + Best for most high data users + Best for long trips + Best for Japan/China/South Korea trips)
  • Best UK eSIMs (Best cheap eSIM + Best for two months)
  • Best global eSIMs (Best US/UK/Canada/Aus/NZ eSIM)
