Two words: Outdoor. Shower. The Acala Shri Sedana is a stunning hotel on Nusa Lembongan, an island that’s about 45 minutes from Bali by boat. I was only there for a night but I was lucky enough to see one of the best sunrises I’ve seen in my life, right from my egg chair hanging by the infinity pool. All this sounds pretty luxurious I know, but here’s the best bit… It won’t break the bank! The room I stayed in is bookable for about £70 a night, an absolute bargain for a Nusa Lembongan villa.
How do you get to the Acala?
The Acala is on Nusa Lembongan, so not actually on Bali itself. I booked the ferry the day before the trip and it included a drop off to the Acala in the price (about $30US return) which was ideal.
What’s the vibe like?
Super, super chill, exactly what I needed after a crazy couple of days diving, hiking and searching for Komodo dragons over on Flores. The staff are amazing, the pool area is divine and the rooms are great, including massive comfy beds and outdoor showers.
How was the food?
The food at the hotel was delicious, and actually exceeded my expectations. I had a tuna steak for dinner and banana fritters (omg my fave), then breakfast was a mix of toast, pastries, fruit etc. delivered to me by the pool.
What is there to do on Nusa Lembongan?
I have to admit I didn’t explore Nusa Lembongan much, I was only there for two days and one of them I spent on Nusa Penida after getting a boat there one morning. The Acala is a bit of a drive from the main tourist parts of Lembongan, but it’s easy to reach Yellow Bridge and the restaurants/shops around there. The lovely girls at reception organised a scooter ride for me down to the ferry and then organised a pick up in the evening which was fantastic.
The verdict
This place is the definition of a bang-for-your-buck experience, with all the luxury treats – infinity pool, outdoor shower etc. – for a very reasonable price. If you’re looking for somewhere stunning to relax for a couple of days, without having to max out the credit card, the Acala is perfect.
Discovering the best bang-for-your-buck places to stay is somewhat of an obsession of mine, so if you have any great value hotels, villas or hostels to share with me then please comment below!

Huge thanks to the Acala Shri Sedana for hosting me for the night. As always, all opinions are my own and are based on my personal experience.
