Every now and then, you experience an epic moment that you know if going to stay with you forever. My floating breakfast in an infinity pool at the Tamarind Resort on Nusa Lembongan was one of those moments. Seriously, look at this:
YUM. Aside from the breakfast, the Tamarind was impressive from the moment I got there. I got a golf cart transfer to my room from the lobby, then had sunset cocktails in the first infinity pool, then breakfast in the second infinity pool. A 24 hour taste of how the other half live! I basically had to be dragged out when it was time to leave.
Where is the Tamarind Resort?
The Tamarind is a luxury Nusa Lembongan resort, just a short drive from the main harbour where the ferries arrive and depart. Nusa Lembongan is an island easily accessible from Bali by a 45 minute ferry.
What’s the vibe like?
It’s a five-star resort and the top-rated hotel in Nusa Lembongan on TripAdvisor, and the vibe is exactly what you’d expect. It was shoulder season when I was there which was lovely, because it felt like I had the place almost to myself! The resort is packed with all the features you’d expect from a luxury resort but it was also super chill, the best of both worlds.
What are the rooms like?
My room was huuuuge, I think the bed was a super king (what a treat!). The bathroom was lovely with a massive bath, and I had a small patio out the front with views of the beach a couple of hundred metres down the hill.
So wait, there are two infinity pools?
Yep! One is up the top with ocean views, and there’s a bar serving drinks and snacks as you’re chilling in the water. I watched sunset here with a mojito in hand, living my best life. Then the second one is down the front next to the main restaurant, where they serve floating breakfasts. This one has a volcano view and it gets the most amazing morning sun.
Tell us about this famous Bali floating breakfast…
Floating breakfasts became a hit on the ‘Gram a couple of years ago, and for good reason. Who wouldn’t want to eat a full tray of breakfast foods while soaking in an infinity pool?! I’m going to be biased but I’d say that the Tamarind’s floating breakfast might be one of the best in the whole of Indonesia. There was an acai bowl with my name cut out of melon, choc chip pancakes, eggs benedict, a fruit bowl, strawberries and cream, AND a glass of bubbles. Yes, I ate the entire thing by myself.
The verdict
I would go back to the Tamarind Resort in a heartbeat. In fact, I got home and showed my flatmate my photos and she booked her trip the next week! This place understands the meaning of luxury holiday, and the absolutely nail the entire experience, from comfortable rooms and insane views to top-notch service and epic experiences. I’ll be back for sure. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
