Looking for the best luxury hotel in Sydney? The award-winning Langham Sydney offers huuuge rooms, world-class facilities and staff that go above and beyond for all guests. Here’s a detailed hotel review of the Langham Sydney.
This is one for the bucket list. The Langham in Sydney is one of the premier hotels in the city, and it’s even been listed in the top 100 hotels in the world! And as soon as you step inside you’ll understand why.
While I usually tend to opt for more modern and youthful accommodation options on my travels, my mum was meeting me in Sydney to celebrate her birthday so I wanted to treat her to somewhere fancy. The Langham is one of the best-known luxury hotel brands in the world so it was an obvious choice! When I arrived I saw that the Langham Sydney actually has a distinctly boutique vibe (there are less than 100 rooms!) while still epitomising timeless sophistication that the chain is known for.

Where is the Langham Sydney?
The Langham Sydney is located on Kent Street in Millers Point, with the Rocks, Circular Quay and Darling Harbour all a ten minute walk.
The location is brilliant for access to entertainment, gastronomy, tourist must-dos and shopping, and it’s just a short walk to get to major tram lines, light rail or train stations.
Rooms at the Langham Sydney
I’ve stayed at many hotels in Sydney over the years and the Langham by far has the biggest hotel rooms of all of them. Our twin room was HUGE, with giant plush beds, a large table that I used as my workspace plus a dressing table with a chair, a comfy arm chair, a two-door wardrobe and a big bathroom complete with a massive bath. The room décor is classic and elegant.
There are three storeys of rooms at the Langham Sydney and we were on the first floor, we looked onto the row of flats behind the hotel but we still had harbour views and enjoyed plenty of sunlight.
The beds gave me exactly what I needed after two hectic weeks of travel (driving Great Ocean Road and then a week in Adelaide visiting my best friend), a good night’s sleep! I was stoked when I saw the hotel had a pillow menu, I usually hate flimsy, soft hotel pillows so I made the call to get a firm pillow up to my room ASAP and I was not disappointed.
Facilities at the Langham Sydney
Alright, I have a confession… My main reason for choosing the Langham Sydney for our luxury city break was because of the indoor pool. This heated pool is a total oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Sydney’s CBD, complete with stone columns, a beach mural at one end and stars painted on the ceiling! The water temperature was comfortable enough for swimming laps and there’s a spa on the side if you want something warmer.
Other facilities at the Langham Sydney include a sauna and day spa down by the pool, and a fitness centre (although once again, to no one’s surprise, I did not use the gym).
Food & drink at the Langham Sydney
Another highlight of our Langham stay was the culinary offerings, including buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners at Kitchens on Kent, a fantastic bar and the famous Langham high tea.
Breakfast was excellent and the best way to start a busy day in Sydney, with everything you could want from fruit and yoghurt to breads and spreads to cooked breakfasts and an omelette station.
The buffet lunch is available on Friday and Saturday and buffet dinner is available nightly, with eight different cuisines all on offer. Our buffet dinner started with an impressive seafood tower with oysters, prawns and sashimi, then it was time to try some Indian curries, stir fry, roast meats, pizza and more before moving onto the cheese section and finally finishing up with the chocolate fountain. Yes, I had to roll back to my room.
On our final day at the Langham Sydney Mum and I tried out the Wedgewood Afternoon Tea, which was the perfect mother-daughter activity. Held daily in the gorgeous dining room, the high tea includes scones, sandwiches and both sweet and savoury treats. The menu changes often and they have different themes throughout the year so I’d love to go back and try it again next time I’m in the city.
Hospitality at the Langham Sydney
The staff at the Langham were so helpful, from the concierge to the check in staff to the restaurant waiters and waitresses. Each staff member we spoke to was friendly and chatty, and we had a good yarn with the restaurant manager who had worked in some of our favourite hotels in Auckland.
Another thing to note about the Langham is that the hospitality doesn’t just extend to humans, it’s actually a pet-friendly hotel! There aren’t too many of these in Sydney so that’s good to know for any dog parents out there.
What to do in the area
Because you’re right in the middle of Sydney’s major tourist and entertainment hubs, your options for things to do nearby is honestly limitless!
Here are some ideas to get you started:
- See the Opera House
- Wander through the Rocks and hit the market if you’re there on a weekend from 10am to 5pm
- Walk through the Royal Botanic Garden
- Take a cruise through the harbour
- Climb the Harbour Bridge
- Go shopping along Pitt Street Mall, at Westfield George Street or at the Queen Victoria Building
- Take the ferry to Manly and chill at the beach for the day
- Head over to Bondi and do the Bondi to Coogee walk
The verdict on the Langham Sydney
If you’re looking to treat yourself to a luxurious stay at one of Sydney’s most iconic hotels, the Langham is absolutely the place to do it. Comfortable, centrally located, great facilities and excellent staff, I would go back in a heartbeat.
Rooms start from around $425 if you book early, you can search your travel dates here.
Huge thanks to the Langham Sydney for providing a media rate for our stay. As always all opinions are my own and are based on my own experience.
