My visits to Sri Lanka have been memorable to say the least.

The first was to celebrate my first-ever solo birthday at a luxe safari camp, where I had a romantic dinner-for-one at a table in the sand with a heart drawn around it, before having to abandon said table because a wild elephant decided to walk right through the open-air restaurant. Rude.

The second was a proper trip exploring Sri Lanka’s top highlights on a small group tour. It was epic, but what made it even more special was discovering 10 days in that one of our tourmates was actually the CEO of the company (!) and he was going to match our group’s tip for our legendary local tour guide Rihas, and cover his costs for him to join us on our planned reunion tour in Japan. WILD.
